is at once light-hearted and profound. The words and illustrations are understated and funny. Antoinette Portis's two-dimensional penguins have stout bodies and little stick legs, like mailboxes in profile. Portis contrasts straightforward dialogue ("Come play with us!" a little penguin tells Edna) with silly visuals (ten penguins standing on one another in an acrobatic display).
